Savannah- Alice V. Helmey Jordan Holsenback, age 90, died peacefully on January 12, 2008 at The Place at Pooler.
Mrs. Holsenback was born in Effingham County on August 27, 1917 and lived most of her life in Chatham County. For many years she was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. She loved to quilt, crochet, garden and fish.
She was pre-deceased by her husbands, Nathaniel Jordan D. 6/41 and Leland Holsenback D. 12/05, her parents Langdon O. and Alice Pittman Helmey, 2 sisters and her brother.
She is survived by her children: Marie Jordan Crum of Jacksonville, FL; Miriam Jordan Foxworth of Pooler, GA; Linda Holsenback Lamb of Guyton, GA; Grandchildren: David L. Crum of Jacksonville, FL; Jeffrey H. Crum of Callahan, FL; Susan Foxworth Robbins and Karen Foxworth Pearson, both of Raleigh, NC; Cynthia Dotson Briggs of Richmond Hill, GA and Andrew J. Dotson, Jr. of Newington, GA; 5 Great-grandchildren; three sisters: Mary H. Galletta of Savannah, GA; Hazel "Betty" H. Cox of Savannah, GA; and Ollie H. Warhurst of Port Wentworth, GA; sister-in-law Sally Jordan Helmey of Garden City, GA; two very dear friends: Sally Evans and Sharon Watson, both of Pooler, GA and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the following people for the excellent, loving care they gave her: Dr. Ben Watson;Bree and Tiffany;the staff and management of The Place at Pooler-especially the nursing staff of hall B; the staff of Wisteria Gardens Assisted Living and Hospice of Savannah, especially Alma.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel with Reverend Bill Black officiating.
Burial will follow in Bonaventure Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Hospice of Savannah.
